The design of university buildings is usually subject to special design standards, as it must create an open learning environment that stimulates creativity and supports academic and student activity.

While the design of buildings must also reflect the spirit of the community and send a strong message of its national identity and cultural heritage, the urban fabric and the environment surrounding the project are important elements influencing the design.
